Hi,I just discovered your blog and am fidning it very helpful! My husband and I have been doing paleo for about 3 months, but never really knew it until recently. We discovered that the way we had been eating had a name, paleo! Anyhow, so far we are doing an okay job. My husband is like 85-90% paleo and I would say I’m about 75%. I have a 2 month old daughter and am hesitant to change my lifestyle completely bc I’m breast feeding. Breast feeding has been going really well thankfully and I just don’t want anything to change that. Any suggestions? Or knowledge on this?
Hi Gina! I’m so sorry I’m just now responding to your question. I didn’t know I had this comment section and my husband is just now showing it to me. Oh dear. i have a lot of catching up to do. As far as breast feeding is concerned, I don’t think going paleo will harm your milk production. If anything, it’ll provide better nutrition for the both of you, since grains can be inflammatory. One thing you can do (that you may already be doing) to keep your milk production up is to drink Fenugreek tea and eat a little bit of organic dark chocolate every day. I did both of those with my 3rd baby and it worked wonders for me. She didn’t nurse well and I needed extra help keeping the milk flowing. She also couldn’t eat solids until 14 months old and was exclusively breast fed. I went totally raw vegan for 4 months while breast feeding her and the only detriment was extreme weight loss. It wasn’t good timing for that kind of diet, but I learned the hard way. I hope that answers your question. If there’s anything else I can help you with I’ll be here, now that I know where this comment section is. Blessings!
